A care that never quits

Have You Tried Natural Skincare Products?

With all of the major food companies moving toward organic and natural foods, it has gotten many people wondering if natural products would be healthier in other areas. Companies are marketing natural shampoos, laundry detergents, and all sorts of other products that seem to be working as well as or even better than their artificial counterparts. With the recent trend moving in this direction, many people are starting to look also for natural skincare products.

All-natural products for the skin are excellent. Without chemicals, the skin is much more likely to be healthy and nourished, and chemicals are often the culprit when skin ages much faster than it should. What many people do not know is that their natural skincare products are often not all-natural at all. The majority of skincare products at pharmacies and department stores do in fact have plant or mineral extracts in them, but often they are close to the bottom of the list of ingredients, meaning that there is a very small percentage of natural ingredients in the product.

Often, even products labeled as natural or botanical are  comprised mainly of alcohols and synthetic chemicals. While these chemicals can make a product smell good, the alcohol and other materials in them are often damaging to the skin, and in many cases can even be slightly toxic to the human body. Chemicals in different skincare products are starting to be linked to depression, anxiety, and a number of other conditions. What many consumers do not know is that when they allow chemicals to be absorbed into the skin, they are also allowing them to enter into their bloodstream. A good rule of thumb is that if there is a product in your skin cream that you would not eat, then you should not place it on your skin, as the end result is the same.

Natural skincare products, truly natural ones, contain only plant and mineral extracts and proteins. These ingredients work together to moisturize skin and combat aging. Synthetic versions of these ingredients are similar in structure, but are inactive and unrecognizable by the body, which renders them ineffective.

While these products are pricier per ounce, in reality using natural products is a cost effective approach to skin care. If you are trying to fight dry skin, it would be better to buy one forty dollar cream that worked than to buy ten five dollar creams that do not. While money is a factor for many people, when it comes to your body and your health, it is often wiser to use a little bit of something that can heal than to use a lot of something that only hurts. With this in mind, I urge you to look into natural skincare products and decide for yourself if using something all-natural and proven safe and effective might be the best choice you can make for your skin and your body.
